Welcome to my academic research site. I am a survey scientist and data scientist, and currently the Director of Research at Vox Pop Labs, the makers of Vote Compass and The Signal. I am also affiliated with the Laurier Institute for the Study of Public Opinion and Policy (LISPOP) at Wilfrid Laurier University. You can email me here.
I was previously Senior Manager, Research Science at SurveyMonkey. I have also held data science roles with management consulting firms and fintech companies. Earlier in my career, I was a Senior Consultant at Gallup.
My previous academic positions include Research Social Scientist (Senior Research Fellow) in the Institute for Social Science Research at the University of Queensland, and before that, Lecturer in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne, and Visiting Fellow at the School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Strathclyde.
My research interests are public opinion and foreign policy, comparative public opinion and political behaviour (focusing on Canada, the United States, Europe, and Australia), spatial and contextual models of political behaviour, and applications of data science in survey research. I received my PhD from the Department of Government at the University of Essex where I was supervised by Thomas Scotto (now at the University of Strathclyde).
My work has been published in several leading journals, including the American Political Science Review, Public Opinion Quarterly, the Social Science Computer Review, Political Behavior, the European Journal of Political Research, and Political Geography.
You can also find me on Google Scholar, LinkedIn, and GitHub. Replication materials for my recently published research are available on OSF.io.
